Takami is a Ph.D. student in physical oceanography. He earned his B.S. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Hokkaido University in Japan, where he worked with Prof. Shoshiro Minobe to investigate future changes in ocean currents around Japan and their underlying mechanisms using multiple climate models. At UH Mānoa, Takami works with Prof. Bo Qiu and Dr. Hyodae Seo to explore the Northwest Pacific, with a particular focus on the Kuroshio. He is also interested in investigating the impacts of offshore wind farms on ocean environments.
