Teaching

I teach undergraduate and graduate courses spanning air–sea interaction, physical oceanography, climate dynamics, and sustainability. My courses connect physical principles with observations, numerical models, and reproducible analysis so that students can move between theory and real Earth-system problems.

Teaching approach

From fundamentals to applications

Students develop physical understnading from governing principles using observations, statistical methods, and examples from latest ocean and atmosphere research.

Research-connected learning

Coursework emphasizes interpretation of model and observational data, critical reading of scientific literature, and clear communication of quantitative results.

Selected teaching activity

  • Undergraduate teaching in sustainability and Earth-system change at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
  • Graduate instruction in air–sea interaction, physical oceanography, climate variability, and coupled modeling.
  • Seminar coordination connecting students with current research across oceanography and atmospheric science.
  • Teaching contributions to the MIT–WHOI Joint Program from 2016 to 2023.
